Ahmedabad: Anurita, 38, has arrived from UK to Ahmedabad with lots of hope. And two samples of semen of her deceased husband, safely frozen in a container of liquid nitrogen.
She desperately wishes she would conceive the child of her dear husband who, in her words, loved her so much that she would live the rest of her life in its warmth.
Anurita, an Indian who works as a civil servant in UK, married Michael, an engineer of Italian origin, in 2001. In 2006, Michael succumbed to blood cancer.
“Michael was an amazing person. He has given me so much love, I cannot describe it in words. After his death, I realised that I just could not love another man. I will love him till I die. Hence, I want his child so that I can get my Michael back,” says Anurita who has come to Bavishi Fertility Hospital in Ahmedabad for IVF treatment.
Her eggs would be fertilised by the frozen sperms of her husband and embryo transferred in her womb.
Anurita is desperate she conceives fast. Unlike other women undergoing IVF she has limited sem-en samples.
“Her husband succumbed to blood cancer. In UK, before initiating chemotherapy, hospitals offer to freeze semen samples as cancer treatment is known to affect fertility of patients. She has come with two samples and we are hoping she gets pregnant,” said Dr Falguni Bavishi.
Dr Bavishi says she has split the two samples brought by Anurita into five samples to ensure she gets more chances.
“Her feelings are genuine and very, very touching. This is the first time a young woman who has lost her husband has come to us,” says Dr Bavishi.
“Please pray for me,” says Anurita as she readied herself for the embryo transfer slated on Friday. Fingers crossed.
